Police investigate shooting of man.

Milwaukee police said Friday night that they are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 800 block of W. Atkinson Ave.

Police reported that a 25-year-old Milwaukee man told them that he was shot as he drove away from the scene after purchasing drugs.

The man drove his vehicle to a Walgreens located at 2222 W. Capitol Drive, where he called police. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of nonlife threatening wounds.

Judge: Wausau man not competent to stand trial

WAUSAU (WAOW) - A judge ruled Monday that a 21-year-old Wausau man accused of shooting a rifle at some relatives as they played cards is not competent to stand trial, according to online Marathon County court records.

Kyle Schaefer was charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety in the May 3 incident at a rural Wausau home where he lived.

Convicted homicide suspect has appeal denied

Madison, WI (WXOW) -

A La Crosse man convicted of giving drugs to another man who later died from an overdose has had his appeal for overturning his conviction denied.

Attorneys for Cain Moss asked the District IV Court of Appeals to reverse his conviction on a First Degree Reckless Homicide charge and a charge of Hiding a Corpse. They argued that the circuit court made a mistakes in not suppressing evidence and evidentiary rulings at the trial.

Man facing homicide charges in fatal crash found guilty

BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- A man facing homicide charges in a fatal crash that happened in Barron County has pleaded no contest.

Gary Clark, 64 of Brandon, was found guilty of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Three other charges were dismissed. 

It happened in July of 2013 on Highway 8 when Deputies say Clark failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a car.

Body found near train tracks in Rothschild

ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) – A 95-year-old woman was found dead near railroad tracks in Rothschild Wednesday morning, according to Rothschild Police Department.

Officials say she was not hit by the train and probably died from the cold.

They say a train conductor saw the woman and called police.

Investigators are still on scene trying to figure out what happened.

Chief updates homicide cases

Beloit Police Chief Norm Jacobs provided updates on homicides in the city over the last year, and gave some new information on the violence during the city council meeting Monday night.

The city had eight homicides in 2014, and one so far this year.

On April 25 Edward Damont Haley, 36, was found shot to death in the 2100 block of Newark Road. Jacobs said police believed the crime was drug-related, and there were multiple suspects that knew the victim.

Dells man charged with intentional homicide

A 27-year-old Wisconsin Dells man faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted intentional homicide, after he was accused of tried to drown a woman by holding her head under a running bathtub faucet.

UPDATE: Three hurt, one arrested in nail salon stabbing

RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) --A terrifying scene unfolded inside a Rib Mountain nail salon. Investigators say a man stabbed three of his coworkers Monday morning.

Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked this stabbing. It happened at Best Nails Salon and Spa off Rib Mountain Drive.

Sheriff's officials say two men and one woman were hurt.

Murder charge dropped against Kandi Siveny

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) – A judge in Wisconsin has dismissed homicide charges against a Minnesota woman set to go on trial in a 2007 slaying.

Outagamie County Judge Nancy Krueger dismissed the charges Monday against Kandi Siveny, of St. Paul, Minnesota, in the death of Laura Plamann. The judge dismissed the charges without prejudice, meaning they could be refiled in the future. Defense attorney Dan Sanders asked that the dismissal be with prejudice, meaning the charges could not be refiled.
