Ex-Wisconsin running back says he was shot during robbery

MILWAUKEE - Former University of Wisconsin running back Booker Stanley said he was shot in the back during a robbery in Milwaukee.

Stanley told WITI-TV that he was robbed by two men around 1 a.m. Friday shortly after parking a vehicle. He says he gave his money, watch and car keys to the men and lay down on the ground with his hands up, but that one of the men shot him in the back.

According to Stanley, he suffered a collapsed and punctured lung. WITI-TV reports he was released from a hospital Monday night.

Man found shot to death inside Oconomowoc home

OCONOMOWOC (WITI) — Authorities are investigating a homicide in Oconomowoc — a crime that hasn’t happened in the city in at least six years.

Oconomowoc police were called out to a home on Elm Street on Sunday evening, May 17th, shortly before 7:00 p.m.

Police say 50-year-old Stanley Van Wagner was found dead in the basement of his home. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Officials say Van Wagner’s wife found her husband’s body and contacted a neighbor, who then notified police.

Death of 51-year-old man investigated as a homicide

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police say they are now investigating the discovery of the body near the KK River Parkway as a homicide.

The body was discovered Monday, May 18th by a citizen in the 2900 block of W. Kinnickinnic River Parkway.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 51-year-old male whose identity is not being released pending family notification.

The investigation into the circumstances that led to the man’s death is ongoing.

Police say no arrests have been made.

Shot fired in Coleman

VILLAGE OF COLEMAN – The Marinette County Sheriff’s department says a 32-year-old Coleman man was arrested early Sunday morning after firing a shot into the ground.

The sheriff’s department received a call around 3:00 a.m. that an armed man was outside an apartment building and fired a shot.

Authorities secured the scene and it was determined that the man lived at the apartments.

The man was eventually located and taken into custody and is in the Marinette County Jail on charges of negligent use of a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.

Authorities link Beloit womans death to online sex ads

JANESVILLE, Wis. - Authorities said the violent death of a woman whose body was found in the garage of a town of Beloit man appears to be linked to online sexual advertising.

The Janesville Gazette reported that investigators believe 38-year-old Andre Robinson killed 19-year-old Brandy Lee Carroll, of Beloit, after meeting her through the website backpage.com. He's expected to be formally charged Monday with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

Evening of gunfire on the eve of Milwaukees Ceasefire Sabbath

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Four people were shot and wounded in separate incidents late Saturday, May 16th and into Sunday. These incidents came just hours before Milwaukee was set to recognize its annual Ceasefire Sabbath.

Milwaukee - People just started shooting at us: Five people wounded at vigil on Milwaukees north side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police say five people were shot during a vigil to remember a victim of gun violence near N. 29th and W. Burleigh.

The shooting took place Saturday evening, May 16th.

Authorities say a crowd had gathered in memory of an 18-year-old killed Friday night, May 15th near 28th and Burleigh.

Police say the large group of people was in the alley when at least one person fired several shots.

Five people suffered gunshot wounds: three women, ages 57, 52 and 24 — and two men, ages 23 and 21.

Woman dead, man in critical condition after homicide call in Winona

Winona, MN (WXOW) - -Winona police respond to a 911 call to find a woman dead and a man in critical condition. 

Deputy Chief Tom Williams of the Winona Police Department said a 911 call was received around 3:30 p.m. Friday to a home at 1516 West King Street. The call was a report of a possible homicide.

Officers made entry into the home and found a 75-year-old female deceased in the living room of the home. Officers also found an 84-year-old man in the living room suffering from what appeared to be a severe head injury.

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Madison Police have released witness accounts of Thursday evening's shooting in the Prairie Road area.

Man charged in fatal stabbing on St. Croix is back in jail

Charges filed in Polk County say 19-year-old Levi Acre-Kendall tweeted on May 7 that if anyone is praying for him, they should also keep the victim's family in mind.

Acre-Kendall is charged with reckless homicide in the death of 34-year-old Peter Kelly of St. Croix Falls. Authorities say he stabbed Kelly on April 14 after an argument along the St. Croix River.

The Star Tribune reports Acre-Kendall was free on bond when he sent the tweet and wasn't supposed to have contact with friends who witnessed the stabbing. The charges say Acre-Kendall's tweet was seen by both men.
