Police investigate homicide- 45-year-old man shot near Cypress and Fond Du Lac

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday night, October 18th

Police say a 45-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and killed around 10:30 p.m. near Cypress and Fond du Lac. The victim has been identified as Joseph Gregory.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time and there are no suspects in custody.

Milwaukee police say the investigation into this incident is ongoing.

50-year-old Jose Ferreira charged in 1982 killing of teenage Milwaukee girl

MILWAUKEE  — Authorities have charged a man in the Milwaukee cold case of a seventh-grade girl found dead more than 30 years ago.

Prosecutors say Jose Ferreira, now 50, is responsible for the death of 13-year-old Carrie Ann Jopek, who went missing in 1982.

The case resurfaced last week when Ferreira called into a television station and discussed the case.

He was charged with second-degree murder and appeared in court Saturday with attorney Melissa Nepomiachi. The attorney didn’t return a phone message from The Associated Press seeking comment Sunday.

Superior man charged in Duluth fatal hit-and-run

DULUTH, Minn. -
Bail is set at $250,000 for a Superior, Wisconsin, man charged with criminal vehicular homicide in a fatal hit-and-run in Duluth, Minnesota.

Thirty-year-old Justin Paul Linskie was arraigned Thursday in St. Louis County District Court. He's accused of killing 60-year-old pedestrian Susan LeGarde-Menz by striking her with his SUV, then driving into a pond Tuesday. Menz was found unconscious in the water. Witnesses told police they saw him get out of the submerged vehicle and flee. The complaint says Linskie later admitted he was the driver.

Victim of apparent homicide pulled from KK River

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating an apparent homicide at 9th and Harrison on the city’s south side on Friday morning, October 16th.

Officers responded to the neighborhood shortly after 9 a.m. Friday — and found an adult male dead from a gunshot wound. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner pulled the body from the Kinnickinnic River.

The investigation is in its early stages — and Milwaukee police are seeking a motive and suspects.

 

2 with ties to Milwaukee street gang charged in 3 homicides

Two Milwaukee men associated with the Uptown Street Boys gang have been charged in connection with a string of shootings and homicides dating back to 2011.

Danta D. Rowsey, 27, is charged with three counts of first-degree reckless homicide in the deaths of Joseph A. McBeath Jr., Irven Hale and Israel Gatlin.

His co-defendant, Emmanuel J. Carter, 25, also is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the deaths of Hale and Gatlin and faces two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Portage ~ Friends - Daughter testify in Waldhart homicide trial

In the final day of witnesses for the state Thursday, the prosecution presented Leah Waldhart as not simply the sole suspect of authorities, but as a woman who has repeatedly confessed to killing Curtis Wylesky.

Waldhart, 39, of Beaver Dam, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime in causing the 2001 death of Wylesky, 42, of Beaver Dam. Waldhart faces life in prison if convicted.

Beloit man gets 30 years for running over ex-girlfriend

BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- A 42-year-old Beloit man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for running over and killing his ex-girlfriend in her driveway last year.

Christopher Rutherford pleaded guilty in August to first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 47-year-old Sheila Rosenbaum in May of 2014.

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- New information has been released on a drive-by shooting that happened in Eau Claire County.

The shooting happened on the 4200 block of County Trunk I in Pleasant Valley around 5:30 Tuesday evening.

According to Sheriff Ron Cramer, investigators found three handguns in the area where the shooting happened.

Man accused of fatal stabbing of Black River Falls woman pleads not guilty

The man accused of fatally stabbing a Black River Falls woman in a pet park plead not guilty Wednesday.

23-year-old John Cook stood mute as the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf to 1st degree intentional homicide of 30-year-old Jacinda Muir.

According to the criminal complaint Cook admitted to stabbing Muir on May 17 after stealing a bag of meth from her and prodding her into the wooded area using his knife.

Cook told authorities he was just going to beat up Muir, but it escalated and he stabbed her.  

Teen arrested accused of death threats at Lake Mills High School

LAKE MILLS (WKOW) -- Police arrested an 18-year old man who they say threatened to kill several students at Lake Mills High School on Thursday.

Colin Z. Dohman of Cambridge was booked into the Jefferson County jail on a disorderly conduct charge.

Police say Dohman threatened to kill students involved in texting inappropriate messages about his ex-girlfriend.

She received the threats, according to police, and told school officials, who called police.
