SHEBOYGAN (WITI) — A Sheboygan County man says he was just playing with his fiancee’s son, but that four-year-old boy died while in his care. Now, what was first described as an accidental death involving horseplay, is being investigated as a homicide.
The man who was supposed to be watching the little boy is now in custody. He claims they were just playing when something hit the boy’s head. Medical experts say it was something far worse.
A Rio man on Thursday entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of first-degree homicide in the April 2013 death of his former girlfriend at their Wyocena home.
Patrick Kraemer, 47, has been held in the Columbia County Jail since his arrest in September, under $450,000 cash bail.
Kraemer’s attorney, Gerald Boyle, argued unsuccessfully Thursday for a bail reduction, telling the judge that the prosecution has not presented evidence to support such a high figure.

The boy's mother's fiancé has been charged in his death.
Armando Aguirre, 31, has been charged with second degree reckless homicide. According to the criminal complaint, Aguirre was babysitting on Friday, April 15. He told police he was spinning the boy by his knees when the his head suddenly hit the ground.
Aguirre was seen trying to revive the child when first responders arrived at the Town of Mitchell home.
WAUKESHA (AP) – A judge has denied a request to move a 12-year-old girl to a psychiatric center after she was accused of stabbing a classmate to please the horror character Slender Man.
The judge also denied a motion to reduce her $500,000 bail to a signature bond. Morgan Geyser’s attorney, Anthony Cotton, says she needs treatment for schizophrenia.
The judge was concerned about her being a flight risk, but Cotton says she has no friends and no car and couldn’t get far.
ONEIDA COUNTY (WAOW) – An 17-year-old Oneida County teen got into an argument with her stepfather about her 22-year-old boyfriend just moments before she killed him and her mother in March, according to an amended criminal complaint filed Friday.
Ashlee Martinson has been charged in the death of Jennifer and Thomas Ayers. Oneida County Sheriff's Department officials say the couple died at their home in the Town of Piehl, just outside of Rhinelander in March.
Officials say Jennifer was stabbed and Thomas was shot in the head and chest.
KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- The trial for a former police officer accused of killing a woman whose body was found in a suitcase along a rural Wisconsin highway has been delayed until November.
Steven Zelich is also suspected in the death of another woman who was found in a second suitcase at the same location in Walworth County.
The 53-year-old was set for trial next month on first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. According to online court records, on Friday a Kenosha County judge moved the trial to Nov. 16.
MILWAUKEE —A 17-year-old boy just released from probation is in trouble again after a Northside shooting.
Milwaukee police said the teen shot a 53-year-old woman Tuesday night during a carjacking and stole her sport utility vehicle.
Police said they located the teen and the SUV Wednesday morning. He was arrested after crashing the vehicle following a chase.
WISN 12 News learned the woman was shot in the cheek, with the bullet exiting near her ear. She is in surgery and will like lose an eye.
MADISON, Wis. - Police said a person of interest is in custody in connection with an elderly man's death last week.
Madison police did not identify the person of interest Thursday, but said the person is in custody on a probation hold.
The 76-year-old man was found in his west side apartment Saturday, and his death is being investigated as a homicide, Madison police said.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - A 22-year-old Michigan man is accused of firing two shots at a 19-year-old Green Bay man who tried to rob him during a drug deal.
Benjamin Hubbard of Menominee, Michigan, is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
