Murder trial postponed again. Waldhart released

The cold-case  trial of a woman charged with killing Beaver Dam resident Curtis Wylesky in April 2001 has been postponed until October, and the defendant has been released from the Columbia County Jail after more than a year behind bars.

Leah Waldhart, 39, of Beaver Dam,was charged in February 2014 with first-degree intentional homicide, stemming from allegations that she caused Wylesky's death by cocaine toxicity. Wylesky's body was found on April 23, 2001, in a ditch near Fall River.

Authorities believe 39-year-old Eric Hall has been in the Darlington and Mineral Point areas in recent days.  He's believed to be driving a gold-colored van with a bike rack.  He is to be considered armed and dangerous.  If you see Hall, call 911 immediately.

 

Teen accused of killing parents waives extradition

TOWN OF PIEHL, Wis. (AP) -- A 17-year-old northern Wisconsin girl accused of killing her mother and stepfather will soon be extradited from Indiana.

The Oneida County sheriff's officials said Friday Ashlee Martinson has agreed to return to Wisconsin where she's charged with fatally stabbing 40-year-old Jennifer Ayers and shooting 37-year-old Thomas Ayers on March 8 at the family's home in the Town of Piehl.

Kutska denied parole in 1992 vat death​

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The state Parole Commission has denied a release request from one of the five men who remain incarcerated for killing a paper mill co-worker in 1992.

Commissioners told Keith Kutska that he needs more time behind bars to address the seriousness of his crime. The commission said a release right now would pose an unreasonable risk to the community.

Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2300 Block of S. 13th Street.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) —  Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2300 Block of S. 13th Street at 2:24 a.m. on April 10th.

Police say it appears that during a domestic disturbance a 40-year-old man from Milwaukee struck and killed his 77-year-old father also from Milwaukee. The victim died at the scene despite the life-saving efforts of the police and firefighters.

Madison man is charged with trying to travel to either Iraq or Syria to join ISIL

MADISON, Wis. - A Madison man is charged with trying to travel to either Iraq or Syria to join ISIL.

Joshua Van Haften, 34, was charged in federal court with attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization. He appeared in court Thursday and has been ordered held without bond.

Deputies are searching for a suspect in home invasion and stabbing

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Deputies are searching for a suspect who, they say, invaded a home and stabbed the resident. 

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, it happened Wednesday night around 9 on Julianna Road near Black River Falls.

Deputies say the man invaded the Parkland Village Estate home and stabbed the resident before running away. 

Wisconsins Parole Commission has denied parole for a man convicted of killing a Grant County Sheriff's deputy in 1990.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin's Parole Commission has denied parole for a man convicted of killing a Grant County Sheriff's deputy in 1990.

According to records from the Department of Corrections, the commission decided on Wednesday to defer further parole consideration for Gregory Coulthard until March 2021.

One person is dead and another injured after a shooting in West Allis

WEST ALLIS (WITI) — One person is dead and another injured after a shooting in West Allis late Wednesday night, April 8th.

West Allis police were notified of a possible shooting near S. 57th and National around 10:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers  located two victims, a male and female. The male victim died from an apparent gunshot wound. The female victim suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Milwaukee man shot and killed while in vehicle

Milwaukee police are searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting early Monday morning.

Police said a 26-year-old Milwaukee man was shot inside of a vehicle in the 2300 block of North Buffum Street.

Officers said the man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police said no one is in custody at this time.
