Victim in Portage shooting identified

PORTAGE, Wis. - Police have identified a man who died Sunday night in a shooing in Portage.

Police said Jason Laack, 22, of rural Rio, was killed around 8 p.m. at the Cattail Lodge on New Pinery Road in Portage.

A suspect in the shooting, Mario Brown Jr., turned himself in to police in Madison around 10 a.m. Monday, police said. Authorities are still searching for one or more acquaintances of Brown in connection with the incident.

Portage police Lt. Daniel Garrigan said the shooting was "targeted."

Amherst man ordered to stand trial in baby abuse care

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - A 25-year-old Amherst man accused of shaking or hitting a baby so hard that it caused bleeding in the brain, creating seizure-like symptoms, was ordered to stand trial Monday, according to online Portage County court records.

Matthew Huettl is charged with two felonies - first-degree reckless injury and physical abuse of a child - as a repeat criminal in incidents in September involving a four-month-old baby boy, the criminal complaint said.

1 dead 1 seriously injured in separate shooting incidents in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred late Monday night, December 19th and early Tuesday morning, December 20th. One person has died and another sustained series injuries as a result of the shootings.

The first shooting occurred around 11:50 p.m. near 31st and Villard.

Police say the 37-year-old man was found lying on a sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the victim died on scene.

Man charged after Racine garbage truck driver struck by car

RACINE COUNTY — A 20-year-old Racine man has been criminally charged after a City of Racine sanitation worker died after he was hit by a car on Wednesday, December 14th.

Benjamin Bell faces one count of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and one count of first degree recklessly endangering safety.

Police: Innocent bystander shot and injured outside FoodTown Supermarket​

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that happened on Thursday evening, May 12th at 6608 W. Fond du Lac Avenue (near Fond du Lac and Hampton) — an address which lists to the FoodTown Supermarket.

The shooting happened around 7:00 p.m.

Police say a 46-year-old woman was shot in the left thigh following an argument between a man and an employee of the store.

The suspect pulled out a handgun and the employee pulled out pepper spray, and the suspect was sprayed.

Police ID man found dead in hotel room after standoff

GRAFTON, Wis. —A man was found dead inside a Grafton hotel Wednesday night after a standoff with police, officials said.

Grafton police identified the man Thursday as 38-year-old Michael Kennedy, of South Milwaukee. 

Officers had been trying to reach Kennedy, who they believed had been involved in an incident earlier Wednesday.

Saukville police were called around 4 p.m. regarding a possible burglary. Officers believed Kennedy broke into a woman's house, held her at gunpoint and forced her to drive him around. Police said she was released without being hurt.

Madison police seeking men in connection with city homicides

UPDATE: The Dane County Medical Examiner released the name of the man killed in a shooting in the Town of Madison Wednesday night.

28 year old Elijah Washington III was shot and killed outside  a gas station in what police say was an incident connected to two other recent murders.
