Death Investigation underway in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) - 

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said a 28-year-old man is dead and a 24-year-old man was critically injured in an apparent shooting in the Town of Garden Valley.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to W12594 E. Town House Road on Sunday at about 11:45 p.m. The caller said one of the victims was possibly dead and the other was still alive, but suffering from a critical gunshot wound.

Shooting marks Milwaukees 4th homicide in 3 days

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man outside a bar early Monday marked the city's fourth homicide in three days.

Police say the city already has recorded more than three times the amount of homicides so far this year compared to the same time last year. They say 35 people have been victims of homicides in Milwaukee as of Monday, while only 11 people were killed in homicides last year at this time.

The latest shooting involving the 26-year-old victim took place about 1:10 a.m. Monday outside Bosses Lounge.

Shots fired in Wood County

WOOD CO. (WAOW)-- According to the Wood County Sheriff's Department, shots were fired early Saturday morning at a home in the Town of Saratoga.

Authorities say they were called to the Wood County home just before 3:00 a.m. because a 65-year-old was armed with a handgun. They say Edward Humphrey forced another male out of a home. The second male was able to leave unharmed.

When officers got to the scene Humphrey fired shots on two occasions.

Man shot at Milwaukee County park

MILWAUKEE —A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was shot at a park Saturday afternoon.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department said it happened at Meaux Park, 1904 W. Villard Ave., which is near Lincoln Park.

The victim was found lying near the basketball court.

The North Shore Fire Department confirmed to WISN 12 News that the victim was taken to Froedtert Hospital with a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Milwaukee police said the alleged shooter left the area in a yellow Ford Mustang. He has not been found.

Two dead, one wounded after shootout outside Comments Bar in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and a third wounded outside of Comments Bar near 52nd and Hampton.

A Hillsboro teenager was jailed on $500,000 bond Thursday after being charged with trying to kill a man following a drinking game involving shots of liquor, punches to the face and an angry girlfriend, according to a criminal complaint.

Mathew Gebhardt, 17, was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the stabbing attack on a 27-year-old man at a rural Neillsville home early Wednesday during a party in a garage.

Staniszewski said, "I know it's unsettling when a situation like this happens in Eau Claire, but rest assured, everybody is safe. The incident has been resolved."

Man sentenced to 6 years behind bars for overdose death of Neillsville teenager

Clark County (WQOW) - A man charged in the drug overdose death of a young woman from Clark County was sentenced Wednesday to six years behind bars.

Reavon Taylor, from La Crosse, was charged in the 2012 heroin overdose death of 19-year-old Monica Cooper, from rural Neillsville. Taylor was charged last year with reckless homicide, but pleaded no contest earlier this year to a reduced charge of delivering heroin. 

 

Hancock man convicted in UWSP drug death

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - A 27-year-old Portage County man pleaded no contest Monday to giving a deadly dose of heroin to a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student, according to online Portage County records.

As part of a plea agreement, Erik Olsen of Hancock was convicted of second-degree reckless homicide in the November 2013 death of Jordan Peterson, 22, who the Portage County coroner says died from a heroin overdose.

Olsen was originally charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
