Trooper killed in gun battle with Suspect

UPDATE (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper is dead following a standoff in Fond du Lac this afternoon.

That's according to our Green Bay affiliate, WBAY, which also reports the suspect is dead.

Several police agencies are working two very active scenes in the city.

 

One scene is at a Pick ‘n Save in the 700 block of Johnson Street. The other is a few blocks away at Forest Avenue and Berger Parkway.

Neighborhood shocked by motel shooting

MILWAUKEE -- Four people are in custody for a shooting on Milwaukee's West Side. 

It happened in the Economy Inn just after 3 AM on Sunday. Police say the shooting injured three people.

3 suspects charged in fatal shooting plead not guilty

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Three people have pleaded not guilty in the fatal shooting of a clerk during an armed robbery at a Waukesha gas station.

Twenty-year-old Kenneth Thomas is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, armed robbery and other crimes. He's the suspected shooter in the Jan. 13 death of 65-year-old Saeed Sharwani at a Citgo gas station.

Twenty-eight-year-old Darrin Malone is charged with felony murder.

Man with accused teen killer now in Merrill jail

MERRILL (WAOW) – A 22-year-old man who traveled to Indiana with a teenage girl accused of killing her parents near Rhinelander has returned to Wisconsin to face violations of his probation, authorities said Thursday.
Ryan Sisco voluntarily agreed to return to Wisconsin and is now in the Lincoln County Jail on a probation violation, according to the sheriff's department.

DA tells Gov Walker he has enough evidence to convict teen of murder

RHINELANDER (WAOW) - The Oneida County district attorney told Gov. Scott Walker that enough evidence exists to convict a 17-year-old rural Rhinelander girl of murdering her parents.

District Attorney Michael Schiek made the claim in 16 pages of documents submitted to Walker seeking the return of Ashlee Martinson to Wisconsin from Lebanon, Ind.

Mother accused of driving drunk. Baby killed.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A seven-month-old boy has died and his mother sustained serious injuries following a single-vehicle rollover crash. It  happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18th near Appleton and Burleigh, and police suspect the baby’s mother was drunk at the time of the crash.

Witnesses tell police that an SUV was traveling eastbound on W. Appleton Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the car at W. Burleigh Street, causing the vehicle to strike a fence, a pole and a building, eventually turning onto its side.

Suspect in 2008 murder makes court appearance

MARINETTE – The suspect in a 2008 murder made his initial appearance in Marinette County court Monday morning, via video.

Erik Smith allegedly killed Eric Volp. Prosecutors allege the two left a Michigan bar, argued and, when Volp got out of Smith’s car, Smith ran him over. Smith then put Volp’s body in the trunk, prosecutors say, and drove to a stream in Marinette County, where he left the body.

Bond was set at $250,000 cash, according to online court records, although Smith is currently serving a federal prison sentence on unrelated charges.

Teen charged in a Mazomanie double homicide makes court appearance

MADISON (WKOW) -- The teen charged in a Mazomanie double homicide was in a Dane County courtroom Monday afternoon.

Dean Sutcliffe waived his preliminary hearing and his attorney entered a not guilty plea for him.  The 17-year-old fatally shot 16-year-old Ariyl Brady and 39-year-old Chris Schwichtenberg February 9th.  According to the criminal complaint, Sutcliffe told his former girlfriend he was going to kill her sister.
