Casper burial arrest suspect refusing to appear, again, set to go before Judge Thursday

MANITOWOC – The man arrested for not cooperating with police during Trooper Trevor Casper’s burial refused to appear in court for the second day in a row.

Police say the 56-year-old Kiel man became disruptive when officers tried to speak with him during Casper’s private burial ceremony Monday morning. The man was walking near the cemetery’s border with an object sticking out of a bag.

Arrested on several misdemeanors, he was set to appear before a Manitowoc County court commissioner Tuesday, but refused, as well as Wednesday.

Roe pleads not guilty in boyfriend killing

WAUPACA – A woman charged with killing her boyfriend pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

No trial date has been set for Alison Roe in connection with the stabbing death of Craig Dake, according to the Waupaca County Clerk of Courts office.

Roe allegedly stabbed Dake at a Fremont apartment March 6. According to the criminal complaint, the two argued before she stabbed him.

If convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, she would be sentenced to life in prison.

Milwaukee Police identify suspect in fatal shooting at party

 

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An 18-year-old Milwaukee man has been identified as a suspect in a fatal shooting at a house party.

The man was arrested last week while driving a stolen car. He was charged in an unrelated shooting during an armed robbery in mid-March.

Police also have identified the man as a suspect in the killing of 19-year-old Ericka Walker. She was fatally shot March 7 during an argument at a house party on Milwaukee's north side.

Montello man was charged Tuesday in connection with the death of a teen and fellow inmate at the Green County Jail in 2013

MONROE, Wis. - A Montello man was charged Tuesday in connection with the death of a teen and fellow inmate at the Green County Jail in 2013.

Green County District Attorney Gary Luhman’s Office said in a news release Wednesday that 44-year-old Danny Douglas Mitchell II was charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of a controlled substance.

Hundreds expected at memorial for slain Wisconsin Trooper

KIEL, Wis. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Wisconsin state trooper killed in a shootout with a bank robbery suspect is being remembered in his hometown.

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend a public memorial service Sunday evening for Trooper Trevor Casper. The service is being held at Kiel (keel) High School, where Casper graduated in 2011.

Casper will killed Tuesday in a shootout that also left the bank robbery suspect dead. Casper had just graduated from the State Patrol's academy in December and was on his first solo patrol when he was killed.

Police investigate Milwaukee homicide

MILWAUKEE —Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that happened Friday night.

Police were called to the 1900 block of West Grant Street around 8:20 p.m.

A 29-year-old man died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by police and firefighters.

Circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.

Charges filed in two fatal Milwaukee crashes

MILWAUKEE —Charges were filed Friday in two fatal crashes this week.

Gerald Harper, 18, was charged with two counts of homicide by negligent operation of the vehicle. Police said he was the driver of a stolen car that blew through a stop sign at Hi-Mount Boulevard and Lloyd Street on Wednesday.

Harper was also charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license -- causing death.

Two of the his 16-year-old passengers, were killed and another passenger, 17, injured.

The driver of the car Harper collided with was not seriously injured.

A Sheboygan man has been sentenced to four years in prison in fatal overdose

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - A Sheboygan man has been sentenced to four years in prison for selling heroin that resulted in an overdose death.

Twenty-three-year-old Taylor Shannon will also spend six years on supervision for first-degree reckless homicide.

Thirty-year-old Kael Klassen died of an overdose last April in Sheboygan. Detectives say they found numerous texts on Klassen's phone from a phone number belonging to Shannon.

Deputies investigating suspicious death in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Wis. (RELEASE FROM SHERIFF'S DEPT.)-- At 2:21 a.m. on March 26, 2015, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call requesting an ambulance for a victim of a possible overdose at 1758 Cottonville Avenue in the Town of Strongs Prairie.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a male subject, identified as 40 year old Kevin Bergeron of Adams, WI in the bathroom area of the residence. Attempts to resuscitate Bergeron where unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Detectives make arrest in 1990 Berit Beck homicide

FOND DU LAC -- Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Detectives have made an arrest in the 1990 Berit Beck homicide case.

Dennis J. Brantner was taken into custody without incident about 11:30 a.m. Friday and has been transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Berit Beck's family has been notified of Brantner's arrest, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office. Berit's parents, Dave and Diane, issued the following statement:
