Convicted murderer charged with beating 74-year-old store clerk in Racine robbery

RACINE — A Racine man with a prior conviction for murder has been charged in connection to a robbery last summer in which a 74-year-old store clerk was assaulted.

Everett D. Goodlow, 45, of the 700 block of Monticello Drive, was in custody as of Friday at the Racine County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He is assigned a Wednesday morning preliminary hearing in Racine County Circuit Court regarding charges of robbery and aggravated battery of an elderly person.

Reckless homicide charge filed in Hayward death

A Hayward woman has been charged in connection with a drug-related death last fall.

Rebbecca L. Kerner, 31, was arrested on a warrant Thursday evening and has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide.  The charge is in connection to a death on Oct. 4, 2014, which a medical examiner found as caused by mixed drug toxicity.

The arrest came after an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation.

Kerner appeared in court Friday morning, and a judge set bond at $20,000.  Another court hearing is set for Tuesday.

Chippewa County Deputy stabbed while on duty is back on the job

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - A Chippewa County Sheriff's Deputy who was stabbed while on duty is back at work.

Investigator William Gray was attacked last year by Sharringer Singh Garcha, who is from the United Kingdom. Gray was helping in the search for a missing 17-year-old girl.

Milwaukee man accused of killing another man during barbecue

MILWAUKEE (AP) – A Milwaukee man is charged with killing another man during a barbecue last week.

Thirty-four-year-old Robbie Fields was charged Friday with first-degree reckless homicide.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Fields is accused of killing Rumea Meatheney. Meatheney had gone to a friend’s duplex for a barbecue Monday when he was killed.

Fields lived in the same duplex as Meatheney’s friend. The complaint says witnesses told police the two men were arguing when gunfire erupted.

Man who shot at police charged with attempted homicide

FITCHBURG (AP) -- Bail is set at $1 million for a Fitchburg man accused of shooting at police after officers tried to coax him out of an apartment earlier this month.

Thirty-one-year-old Tommie Evans was charged Friday with three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, four counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and one count of gun possession by a felon.

Assistant District Attorney Shelly Rusch says Evans fired nine shots at the seven officers in what "appears to be an ambush laying in wait," missing three of the officers by only inches.

Man found dead in Tomah hotel - HOMICIDE

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) - UPDATED

A 43-year-old man found dead Wednesday in a Tomah hotel room was the victim of a homicide, according to the preliminary autopsy report.

Tomah police responded to a medical call at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Econo Lodge Hotel and found an unidentified man dead in a room.

On Friday, Tomah police released the name of the victim as Derek Magnuson.

Milwaukee man who attended wake for relative is fatally shot

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting near 12th and Capitol on Friday evening, March 13th.

After attending a wake for a relative held nearby, the 28-year-old victim from Milwaukee was approached by a person who got out of a car and confronted the victim. During that confrontation, shots were fired striking the victim. The victim died at the scene from his injuries. The suspect got back into the car and took off.

Town of Menasha man gets prison time for toddlers death

OSHKOSH – A man who caused the death of his fiancee’s daughter will spend 25 years in prison.

Ryan Jorgenson will also spend 10 years on extended supervision after he is released. He was sentenced Friday in Winnebago County court.

Jorgenson was convicted in January after pleading no contest to first-degree reckless homicide, according to online court records. Police say he admitted to pushing a three-year-old down the stairs in the town of Menasha last year, causing her death. Jorgenson was engaged to the child’s mother.

La Crosse police confirmed emergency crews recovered a body from the Mississippi River Friday morning.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - Ongoing search for missing Onalaska fisherman continues

Crews received a call at about 8 a.m. from a person near the Riverside Center complex who thought there was a body floating in the water.

The body of a man was recovered near the Division Street boat landing, near Division and Front Streets. Police Sergeant Randy Rank told News 8 the body appeared to have been in the water for quite some time.

Police have not released the identity of the individual.

Charged: 77-year-old man accused of stabbing roommate to death

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A 77-year-old Milwaukee man has been criminally charged, accused of stabbing his roommate to death.

Sylvester Taylor is facing one count of second degree reckless homicide for the stabbing death of 50-year-old Gregory Tumidajewicz.

A criminal complaint filed against Taylor says that police responded to a residence near W. Groeling Avenue and N. 13th Street around 10:15 p.m. Sunday night, March 8th in response to a subject with a weapon call.
