UPDATE (WKOW) --- The Dane County Sheriff's Office tells 27 News authorities shot a person this afternoon, as police remain at at the scene of an incident along Interstate 39, near DeForest.
Traffic was backed up there, as well as at another location along the interstate near Lake Delton. Lanes in the Wisconsin Dells area opened back up around 6 p.m.
It's unclear right now if and how the two scenes are related.
We do know the Dane County Sheriff's office says the person shot by police was air-lifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sauk County dispatch says emergency responders were called to I-90 near Lake Delton this afternoon for a report of a person shot in the neck, and Dane County dispatch says Dane County officers were called to help Columbia County and the State Patrol with a vehicle chase.

UPDATE: Wisconsin State Patrol has northbound traffic exiting at US 51, going north to WIS 60, west on WIS 60 back to I-39/90/94. Southbound traffic will need to reverse these directions. Sauk County says investigators are working scenes at both mile marker 95 and mile marker 124.
A Dane County Sheriff's department spokeswoman is on her way to the scene and has confirmed that police shot a person in this incident and they were airlifted to the hospital. She did not know the person's condition.

UPDATE: The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a traffic incident in the area that's believed to be related to the shooting. The left lane going eastbound on I-90/94 at Mile Marker 95 is expected to be closed for up to two hours while officers work the scene.

Emergency responders were called to a scene near Delton at 2:53 this afternoon for a report of a person being shot in the neck.
Sauk County officials would not confirm the exact location.
