Teen sentenced for shooting man in face

MILWAUKEE —A Milwaukee teen heads to prison for shooting a man in the face.

Nathan King, 16, sat in a wheelchair in court Thursday, telling a judge that his bad choices have altered the lives of three families, including his own.

King was convicted of shooting Claudiare Motley in the face while trying to steal his car. He asked the judge for leniency.

"There are no winners and losers. There are only losers in this situation," he told the judge.

Two days after he shot Motley, police said King tried to carjack Victoria Davidson. Davidson was armed, and she shot and injured King. She was not as forgiving as Motley.

"It has absolutely changed my life," she told the judge. "I would do it again, but it has changed my life."

King's mother pleaded with the judge for a light sentence because of his age.

"I've seen people go in the system young, and they come out worse," Regina Ragland said. "I just want to be able to save his life."

"I know I can't change what I did, but I do show remorse," King said.

The judge sentenced King to more than 12 years in prison and 12 years of probation, saying King needed some time to pay for what he's done and to rehabilitate himself.

Motley has had five surgeries to repair his face and says he will need three more.
