FOND DU LAC -- Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Detectives have made an arrest in the 1990 Berit Beck homicide case.
Dennis J. Brantner was taken into custody without incident about 11:30 a.m. Friday and has been transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
Berit Beck's family has been notified of Brantner's arrest, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office. Berit's parents, Dave and Diane, issued the following statement:
“We are encouraged and relieved for this day to have arrived for Berit and our family. We request that our privacy be respected as this process unfolds.”
As recently as last year, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff seemed confident they were closing in on Beck's killer, after a search warrant indicated fingerprints from a 60-year old Kenosha man were found on a Burger King cup, and an employee manual and a bleach kit were found in Berit's van.
"It's the best, strongest physical evidence we've had to date," the Sheriff said in April.
