UPDATE (WKOW) -- Authorities say it appears homicide suspect John Hamann posted a rant against women on Facebook around the time of the killing of 82-year old Agnes Bram of Middleton.
Hamann appeared in Dane County Court Tuesday on a charge of first degree intentional homicide. A court commissioner set Hamann's bail at $500,000.
A criminal complaint states Hamann posted to Facebook on Apr. 25 a tirade against women. "Today is another day for WOMEN to be evil," the social media post states. "All women are liars...SHAME ON YOUR GENDER."
Bram's body was discovered by a family member April 28.
Authorities Bram died of blunt trauma to her head. Deputy District Attorney Matthew Moeser Tuesday said Bram suffered eight, separate blows from different objects.
In 2009, Hamann hit a neighbor in the head with a baseball bat, and was convicted of felony, substantial battery. The criminal complaint against Hamann says his mother did not want her son to live with her, in part "...for fear of him 'hitting me over the head with something.'"
Bram rented a room to Hamann in her University Avenue home. The complaint states Hamann recently borrowed money from a friend for what the friend thought was a rent payment.
The complaint also states bloody footprints at the homicide scene may be linked to Hamann's shoes.
When authorities found Hamann at UW Hospital the day after Bram's body was discovered, the complaint says told officers, " 'I'm the person you're looking for.' "
