UPDATE: Driver who hit and killed pedestrian charged with first degree homicide

UPDATE: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 --- 9:39 a.m.

MADISON, Wis.---- A Sauk City man who was arrested for operating while under the influence after his car hit and killed a pedestrian has been tentatively charged with first-degree reckless homicide and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, according to the Madison Police Department. 

Witnesses told police that the suspect, 25-year-old Adam M. Sutter, was speeding when he ran a red light while turning from N. Stoughton Road onto East Washington Avenue Thursday night.

The victim, 36-year-old Sara Wolf, was in an East Washington Avenue crosswalk when she was hit.

Wolf was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead by the Dane County Medical Examiner.

MADISON, Wis. -- The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of the 36-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car on Thursday.

The office says Sara Wolf was hit by a vehicle on East Washington Avenue and Stoughton Road around 7:15 p.m.

The Madison woman later died at a local hospital from injuries she sustained in the crash.

Police said a Sauk City man was arrested for allegedly operating while under the influence after his car hit Wolf.

Authorities said they believe the suspect, 25-year-old Adam M. Sutter, was impaired at the time of the crash, but say what caused his impairment is still being investigated.

MADISON, Wis.--- Police said a Sauk City man was arrested for allegedly operating while under the influence after his car hit and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Stoughton Road Thursday night.

Police said they believe the suspect, 25-year-old Adam M. Sutter, was impaired at the time of the crash, but say what caused his impairment is still being investigated.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m.

Witnesses told police that the suspect was speeding when he ran a red light while turning from North Stoughton Road onto East Washington Avenue. The 36-year-old victim was in the crosswalk when she was hit.

Officials said a motorist, who is a nurse, performed CCR on the victim until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead by the Dane County Medical Examiner.

Madison police say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as they were crossing Stoughton Road at East Washington Avenue. Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with significant injuries. Roads were closed in that area as police investigated the incident.
