Tomahawk woman convicted in 2003 killing

RHINELANDER (WAOW) -- A 33-year-old Tomahawk woman was convicted Thursday of participating in the killing of her uncle more than a decade ago, according to online Oneida County court records.

Latoya Wolf pleaded no contest to being party to second-degree homicide in a plea deal that amended the original charge of participating in first-degree intentional homicide, court records said.

Kenneth Wells was found dead in the Wisconsin River in June 2003 in what investigators originally thought was an apparent drowning.

According to court documents, Wolf began cooperating with investigators three years ago, eventually claiming Wells was struck in the back of the head with a rock by her then-husband Shannon Wolf following an argument that involved two other men.

Latoya Wolf is to be sentenced Nov. 6.

Her ex-husband has pleaded not guilty to participating in first-degree intentional homicide and a seven-day trial is set to begin Oct. 15, according to court records.
