Teen convicted of killing dad in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - A judge has convicted a 19-year-old man accused of bludgeoning his father to death and hiding his body for nearly a week in their Sheboygan apartment.

Sheboygan Press Media reports Judge Terence Bourke delivered his verdict Friday. Dorrian M. Torres was 17 at the time of the killing in January 2014. He was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Torres waived his right to a jury trial and claimed self-defense.

The teen testified Thursday he beat his 41-year-old father, Emilio Torres, on the head with a mallet. He said his father was angry at him for smoking marijuana and they got into a fight.

Dorian Torres faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. At minimum, he must serve 20 years in prison. A sentencing date will be set Monday.
