Shot fired inside West Allis strip club

WEST ALLIS, Wis. —Police received word of a shooting inside Heartbreakers Gentlemen's Club on 95th Street and National Avenue early Friday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., the West Allis Police Department along with five other squads responded to the incident. An investigation found that a patron had fired once while in the building.

The suspect, a 33-year-old Milwaukee man, was disarmed by Heartbreakers employees and later arrested.

Thomas Wachholtz has lived nearby the Heartbreakers building for 10 years. He feels the shooting was an isolated incident, but it still has him worried.

“Who knows what could happen when somebody shoots a gun off,” said Wachholtz. “Bullets could go flying anywhere. You don't know where they could go. There's children over here, we have children ourself. Of course I'm concerned about it.”

Although West Allis Mayor Dan Devine hasn’t received a disproportionate number of complaints regarding the strip club, he said, “a shots fired incident will be taken very seriously by the city and I expect they will be called in front of the License and Health Committee."

No one was injured during the shooting. Police are still investigating what led up to the gunfire.
