Shooting investigation underway in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- Officers are looking for two men following a shooting early Saturday morning.  The suspects shot two people, including a child.  

According to police, the incident happened in the 3300-block of Leopold Way around 3:00 a.m.  Two adults and a child had just returned home to their parking lot on Leopold Way.  While the driver was leaving the car, a suspect approached the driver with a handgun and tried to go through the person's pockets.  The driver got away, but the suspect stayed back.  

The suspect then turned their attention to the passenger.  The man fired at the passenger, hitting the passenger in the leg.  Then, the suspect drove away.   

Police continue, that while the suspect was driving away, he continued to fire at the car.  One of the bullets hit the window, where the young child was sitting.  The child was hit by shattered glass from the window and suffered injuries to the face, particularly around the eyes.   

The passenger and the child are expected to be okay, but were taken to the hospital for treatment.   

Police are looking for two men as suspects in the shooting.  The first is described as a black male, between 20-23 years old, 5'10", 170 lbs., with short dreadlocks.  The second is a 6'10" black man, with a medium build, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.  

Fitchburg Police are handling the investigation, which they say is ongoing.  No arrests have been made.
