Reward increased for information in shooting death of Laylah Petersen

MILWAUKEE —It's been six month,s and no arrests have been made in the shooting death of Laylah Petersen, 5.

It was announced late Wednesday afternoon that the reward for information in her death is up to $35,000.

Petersen was shot and killed in November when someone opened fire on her grandparents' home.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said he hopes this new reward sparks someone out there to come forward with information leading to an arrest.

Laylah's mom desperately wants answers, too. She spoke directly to the killer.

“How do you see our family grieving so hard? And we don't have any answers. How would you feel if this was your family? About you? Someone needs to step forward and stop being afraid,” Ashley Fogl said.

“It weighs heavily on all of us. It weighs heavily on those officers who were here that night, trying to assist her lifeless body, in her moment of greatest peril,” Flynn said.

Billboards will be going up with this new reward information and a picture of Laylah.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to call Milwaukee police.
