Man accused of killing mother found not fit for trial

MILWAUKEE —A Milwaukee County man accused of killing his 68-year-old mother has been found not competent to proceed with trial.

Forty-year-old Robert Rozewicz of Hales Corners is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Julie Rozewicz, who had been missing before her body was found in March at a Musekgo landfill.

A judge ordered Rozewicz into the Wisconsin Department of Health Services' care for treatment, and he will undergo examination periodically to determine if he is competent.

The ruling came after the opinion of the Wisconsin Forensic Unit's director, who determined that Rozewicz wasn't able to understand charges and help in his defense.

According to the criminal complaint, Robert Rozewicz told investigators he suffocated his mother and then stabbed her once in the heart so she wouldn't wake up in a garbage can.

Rozewicz hasn't entered a plea in the case.
