Lynch sentenced to 35 years in prison for 2014 shooting

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Town of Union man is sentenced to prison in an officer-involved shooting.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Paul Lynch, 47, to 35 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision. A jury convicted Lynch on several related charges in February. Prosecutors say Lynch intentionally fired an assault rifle at Deputy Dustin Walters in January 2014. Lynch's lawyer argued that the gun went off on accident.

Lynch had entered not guilty pleas to charges including Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide in January. Watch WEAU 13 News at 5, 6, and 10 for reaction to the sentence.
