Kelly Dwyers dad talks about remains found in Jefferson County

MILWAUKEE —For the first time, Tony Dwyer opens up about human remains recently uncovered in Jefferson County and the possible link to his missing daughter, Kelly Dwyer.

“It's the hardest thing the family has ever done, or will ever do,” Tony Dwyer said.

Just last week, Kelly Dwyer's dad announced plans to search the area between Milwaukee and Madison, in hopes of finding his daughter's body.

A day later, in an eerie coincidence, a passer-by spotted a skeleton off a dead-end road near Sullivan. Tony Dwyer said he's not jumping to conclusions.

“The tenure of this entire thing has been so painful, so long, and impacted so many people that to have a gut reaction on any part of it, is at best premature, and we do our best not to speculate,” Tony Dwyer said.

Security cameras last spotted Kelly Dwyer going into her Kris Zocco's luxury high-rise on Milwaukee’s east side.

Zocco told police the couple partied, and Dwyer left in the morning, but the cameras never documented her departure.

In the year and a half since, the Dwyer family saw Zocco convicted of possessing drugs and child pornography based on evidence found in the search for Kelly.

“It's been a year and a half. That's a very, very long time,” Tony Dwyer said.

Now, Dwyer is waiting for a forensic odontologist to review old dental records to determine if the female skeleton with good teeth may be his first-born.

“Certainly it would be closure. The one goal we've had since the beginning would be to bring Kelly back to give her a respectful burial, funeral, an opportunity for her mother and her sister, sure,” Tony Dwyer said.

The medical examiner here has sent dental X-rays of the Sullivan victim to a forensic expert who is comparing them to Kelly Dwyer's dental records. That review could be complete by Friday.
