Wisconsin man gets 3 years in womans drug related death

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A 39-year-old eastern Wisconsin man has been sentenced to three years in prison for providing the drug that killed his girlfriend.

David Smet of Ashwaubenon also was ordered to spend five years on extended supervision following his release from prison.

Smet gave a pain killer known as Fentanyl to 29-year-old Amber Kunstman, who died in September 2013. Court records show Fentanyl was determined to be a significant factor in her death.

Smet pleaded no contest to felony first-degree reckless homicide/delivery of drugs. Misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana were dismissed but considered during sentencing.
